ONDULINE ® CLASSIC System

The first corrugated bitumen sheet in the world

Why ONDULINE ® CLASSIC?

ONDULINE CLASSIC is a corrugated roofing sheet.

It's reliable and well-known

solution for a wide range of applications.

For roofs with min. pitch about 5о (about 9%).

ONDULINE CLASSIC is an attractive, lightweight but extremely tough corrugated roofing composite material manufactured from bitumen-saturated organic fibers under intense pressure and heat. This system is superior to many other corrugated roofing systems and has been installed on millions of roofs around the world.

ONDULINE CLASSIC sheets only require a very simple toolkit to install: a hammer for securing the sheets and a band saw for cutting them down to size. A complete range of ONDULINE ® components and accessories is available to ensure easy and professional fixing and to provide for every eventuality in roof design.

The unique production process is the result of a more then 60 years continuous efforts in research and development and it consists of several phases of intense complexity. The result is a flexible and cost effective product that provides weather protection even in the most extreme climatic conditions. The sheets have been installed on the roofs of residential, industrial and agricultural buildings on more than 100 countries.

ONDULINE® SEALSMART™

A UNIVERSAL TYPE OF ROOFING

Thanks to their reduced weight (about 3 kg/m2) and their great mechanical flexibility, the sheets can be installed on an extremely diverse range of lightweight roof structures.

PERFECT VENTILATION

The corrugated shape of the sheets makes roof structures easier to ventilate and delivers g great temperature resistance to any roof.

IDEAL PROPERTIES FOR HURRICANE AREAS

Lightweight, non-cutting and ultra-flexible, ONDULINE CLASSIC sheets are specified by a great many architects in regions of the world exposed to the risk of hurricanes.

AN ALL-TERRAIN MATERIAL

In contrast to many roofing materials which are unable to withstand journeys on rough roads, the sheets never break while in transit.

A SAFE PRODUCT

It almost goes without saying that the sheets contain no asbestos. Rainwater collected from an the sheet is suitable for all cultivation purposes.

ONDULINE® SEALSMART™

Backed by exclusive ONDULINE  SealSmart™ technology, the elasticity of ONDULINE CLASSIC’s composite material allows it to shrink firmly around each nail, creating a permanently leak-resistant barrier. And the waterproofing is secured thanks to double-embossment technology at the overlaps.

Approximately 20 fixings should be used per sheet. Every corrugation should be fi xed at eaves, overlaps and ridges. Every second corrugation has to be fi xed at the intermediate purlins. The fi xing at the intermediate purlins has to be staggered.

Start fixing the roof the opposite end of the roof from the direction prevailing wind.Set out the roof as indicated in the order of the diagram. Start alternate rows of sheets with a half sheet to offset the sheet layout.

EAVES

The sheets overhang at the eaves should not be more than 7 cm.

Please set this distance while elaborating the roof project.

RIDGES

Add an extra purlin when necessary if the distance between the last purlin and the ridge is too wide.

The ridge elements are fixed in opposite direction to the prevailing winds.Lay ridge elements with a minimum overlap of 12.5 cm.

ONDULINE VERGE PIECE

A superior verge finish can be achieved with the use of the ONDULINE ® verge piece, nailed into the barge board and formed across onto the roof sheets and nailed into the support corrugation through the peak of the corrugation. Available in the sheet colours.

VERGE DETAIL

A simple termination of the shield can formed by bending the last corrugation over the side barge board raised to sit within the corrugation.
